#obsesseeIRL Pop-Up Shop at The Grove

What’s cooler than seeing your work on Pret-a-Reporter’s Instagram or included in a write-up on The Hollywood Reporter? A pop-up store where your social currency is the only money allowed. No money, no cards, just social media posts.

Last month I was brought on board to create a chalk mural for obsessee at The Grove. The concept was simple yet innovative. Rather than regular forms of payment, customers would come in choose their item, post the appropriate number of posts that the item “cost” (with the appropriate hashtags, of course), and then show their posts to the shop girls to check out. From instant cameras to vintage t-shirts, there was a bunch of cool stuff on hand to shop and post away. I created a chalk mural that explained how everything worked.

Below are pics of the #obsesseeIRL Pop Up and the mural I created, as well as some Instagram highlights of consumers using the mural as a photo backdrop . There seems to be talk of this pop-up happening in other cities so keep an eye out!
