The Village: Coming Soon

Chef Frank Leon has successfully owned a popular fine dining restaurant in Studio City for the last 28 years. He mingles with, and caterers for, big name celebrities like Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres, and, lucky for me (and my stomach), Frank considers me one of his dear friends. So best believe when he approached me to help design, open and promote his new restaurant The Village I jumped at the opportunity. His goal was simple; he wanted the new venue to evoke the same intimate essence that his other restaurant did, except with a hipper feel and for a young professional crowd.  In other words, Frank wanted to create an intimate haven with a touch of glamour and a lay back vibe. We decided to go with a Mixology meets Gastropub concept, with tapas and personal pizzas for a communal feel. We divided the challenge in two categories: Ambiance (this included the building design and decor, as well as the staff personality, uniform and training), and then Food & Drinks.

This is the Ambiance Vision Board we created:

And this is the vision board depicting how we wanted people to feel when they came to The Village and tried all the yummy food and drinks:

Check out my other entries to see how we transformed the failing French Bistro into one of the hottest nighttime destination spots on Ventura Blvd.

And for fun, check out the pre-opening advertisement / barrier I somehow convinced my friends to help me create in exchange for free food:
